It is the mission of Youth Services for Stephens County to strengthen the emotional health and functioning of youth, adults, and families.   YSSC provides emergency shelter care for children, individual, group, and family counseling, substance abuse assessment, screening, and counseling, the Community Intervention Center, life skills training for youth, parent education, First Time Offender’s Program, educational groups to address anger management, Community-At-Risk services, and other prevention and diversion services.

HeartLine connects Oklahomans to help, hope and information 24 hours a day.   By utilizing the 2-1-1 information and referral network system, we are finding that 39% of the Stephens County callers are needing access to basic services such as utility assistance, food,shelter (rent), etc. Heartline serves as the connecting point to people in need. They call 2-1-1 and we ask for their zip code, and refer a service that matches their request to reduce stress, and un-needed calls to
several agencies.

Christians Concerned is an organization composed of volunteers, funded by donations, whose purpose it is to give assistance to those in need in the Duncan area. The assistance includes: filling emergency calls for food, medical attention, utilities, transportation, and housing; refer people to professional help toward finding a more permanent solution to housing difficulties, money handling, etc.

It is the mission of the Duncan Senior Citizens Center to provide services and programs to meet the social, recreational, health, and welfare needs of senior citizens of Stephens County, 55 years and older. The Duncan Senior Citizens Center provides a variety of socially oriented recreational activities, such as various card games, a pool table, dominoes, bingo, crafts, art classes, quilting, needlework, aerobics, a “sit & be fit” program. In addition, several special events are periodically sponsored, such as potluck luncheons, a variety of health screenings, a safe driving program; as well as two dances each week, with live bands. The Center’s mini-van and driver are available to seniors, within the Duncan city limits, for transportation to and from the Center, as well as for shopping and doctors appointments. The Center also provides logistical support to the Delta Nutrition Program in the form of kitchen and dining facilities.

Legal Aid’s board of directors adopted a mission statement in February 2003 as part of its strategic planning process. The mission is to be a partner in the community to make equal justice for all a reality. At the same time, Legal aid recognized its core values of integrity, service, and justice. Legal Aid services seek to enhance the ability of low-income and elderly people to have the basics of survival, e.g., protection from violence, health, shelter, food, and income. Further, LASO services protect fundamental civil liberties, rights, and relationships. Because resources are inadequate to meet the need, extended services focus on the most important and urgent problems. To the extent Legal Aid succeeds, its clients have a better life and the quality of life in Stephens County is improved for all.

Women's Haven, Inc is an Oklahoma not for profit corporation incorporated in 1991. Its purpose is to assist victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in Stephens County and surrounding areas (although service is not limited to these areas). Services include a crisis line available 24 hours a day, crisis intervention counseling, emergency shelter, peer counseling, legal advocacy, children’s advocacy, victim’s advocacy, support groups, children’s programs, and a batterer’s treatment program. Women’s Haven is committed to the elimination of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in the lives of all individuals in Stephens and Jefferson Counties. Our mission is to empower victims and provide advocace to assist them in staying safe.
